About Atharva
For some reason, Atharva’s (Karthik Raju) ambition to become a police officer was not fulfilled. Fortunately, he is hired by Team Cruise, an investigative unit that assists the police. His journalist girlfriend Nitya (Simran Chowdhury) introduces him to Bollywood actor Jashani (Ira Jain). After Joshni’s murder, Atharva vows to solve the case and begins a search for the remains.
Crime thrillers like ‘Atharva’ can be found on OTT platforms. The vast majority of these suspenseful shows come from foreign countries and focus on forensic or investigative teams solving crimes. The makers of ‘Atharva’ hoped to introduce the audience to this sub-genre while also giving a glimpse of the Clues team’s painstaking work in solving cases.So it’s no surprise that the opening sequences are interesting as they focus on the mechanics of the Clues team. But after a while it starts to feel like any other ordinary crime drama. Unnecessary “mass moments” also cause a sharp drop in mood.The performance of Karthik Raju who played the lead role is satisfactory. Simran Choudhary is excellent in her portrayal.Sricharan Pakala’s score goes well with the theme and genre of the film. Charan Madhavaneni has excellent cinematography. Despite a solid plot, director Mahesh Reddy adds a superficial touch.Atharva” focuses on the “trace department” and how they help solve crimes. While engaging at times, it falls short of what an engrossing thriller is. It may look watchable on OTT rather than in theaters.
